Job Description
We’re Hiring: Youth Advisor
Part Time I Flexible location | 9-day fortnight | Salary packaging | Help young people thrive
Are you the kind of person who cheers the loudest when someone lands their first job?
We’re on the lookout for a Youth Advisor to join our Transition to Work (TtW) team.
Think of this role as part coach, part cheerleader, part real-talk mentor. You’ll work closely with young people to help them get job-ready — not just with resumes and interviews, but with the real-world stuff too: showing up on time, working in a team, and knowing what’s expected in the workplace. Through one-on-one coaching and group activities, you’ll help them build the confidence and skills they need to take that next step into work or study — and celebrate the wins along the way.
What you’ll be doing (aka your superpowers):
Supporting young people one-on-one to build their confidence and job readiness
Creating personalised Job Plans and portfolios that make sense
Running group sessions and coaching that’s engaging, not boring
Connecting young people with employers, training providers, and community orgs
Helping turns job placements into long-term success stories
Keeping track of progress and outcomes (yes, there’s a bit of admin — but we’ve got systems for that)
Desired Skills and Experience
What you bring to the table:
At least 2 years’ experience working with young people (or similar)
A passion for helping others succeed — especially those who’ve had a tough start
Great communication and people skills
A Certificate III (or willingness to get one)
A current QLD Blue Card and National Police Check
A driver’s licence and confidence to get out and about
Bonus points if you’ve got:
A Certificate IV in Employment Services or similar
Experience managing caseloads or working with disadvantaged communities
Why you’ll love working with us:
We’re ETC — a not-for-profit that’s been changing lives across NSW and QLD for 35+ years. We’re all about community, connection, and doing good work with good people.
We know that the best teams are made up of different voices, stories, and perspectives. Whether you’re Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, neurodiverse, living with disability, part of the LGBTQ+ community, culturally diverse, or someone who’s never quite felt like they fit the mould — we see you, we value you, and we want you on our team. Diversity isn’t just a buzz word here.
Perks include:
9-day fortnight option (yes, long weekends!)
Salary packaging = more $$ in your pocket
Extra leave for birthdays, community service & more
Applications close: Wednesday 29th April 2026 - Applications must be submitted via our recruitment portal.
